Kim Kardashian leaves the tag on for Balenciaga fashion show
Kim Kardashian made a bold fashion statement at the Balenciaga show in Paris on Sunday, as she wore a black lace gown with the tag still attached.
The reality star and entrepreneur, who has been a longtime fan and collaborator of the designer Demna Gvasalia, attended the fall/winter 2024-2025 presentation at the Grand Palais, where she sat in the front row next to tennis legend Serena Williams.
Kardashian's sheer lace dress featured a high neck, long sleeves, and a dramatic train that swept the floor. However, what caught everyone's attention was the white tag hanging from the back of the dress, which had the word "Balenciaga" printed on it.
The 43-year-old did not seem to mind the apparent wardrobe malfunction, as she posed for the cameras and shared a video on her Instagram story, where she wrote: "It's always Balenciaga for me."
She also showed off her outfit in another video, where she walked down a hallway with her friend and hairstylist Chris Appleton, who joked: "Kim, you've got something on your dress."
Some fans speculated that the tag was intentional, as part of Gvasalia's signature avant-garde style, which often plays with unconventional shapes and materials. The models on the runway also wore clothing with rectangular labels tied to strings, suggesting that the tag was a deliberate design element.
Others wondered if Kardashian was making a subtle reference to her recent divorce from rapper Kanye West, who is also a close friend and supporter of Gvasalia. West famously wore a Balenciaga jacket with the tag still on to the listening party of his album "Donda" in July 2022.
Kardashian has been embracing Balenciaga's edgy aesthetic for a while, as she wore a full-body black outfit that covered her face at the Met Gala in 2021, and a similar ensemble at the second "Donda" event in August 2022.
The Balenciaga show was one of the highlights of the Paris Fashion Week, which ends on Tuesday. The event also featured the debut collections of Raf Simons for Dior and Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton, as well as the return of Jean Paul Gaultier after a two-year hiatus.
