Trump Vows To End Russia-Ukraine War With A Single Phone Call...
Donald J. Trump - 47th President of the United States.

Republican candidate for the US presidential election, Donald Trump, said on Friday that he spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and pledged to end the war between the European country and Russia.

“I appreciate President Zelensky's help because as the next President of the United States, I will bring peace to the world and end the war that has claimed so many lives and destroyed so many countless 'innocent' families, Mr. Trump said.

The two sides will be able to meet and negotiate an agreement that ends violence and paves the way for prosperity. The United States has provided tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Kiev since Russia launched its massive invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, although Trump's victory in the November election will raise questions about continued support from Washington.

Zelensky confirmed the call in which he congratulated Trump on officially becoming the Republican presidential nominee and wished the 78-year-old good health following his assassination a week ago, in a message on x.

"I realize the support of the two important parties and duo provided by the United States to protect our country's freedom and independence."

Trump has repeatedly said that he would end the battle very quickly without providing details about the road.

Last week, the former president hosted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who met Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this month, at his base in Florida.

Trump's repeated praise of Putin and his failure to publicly criticize Russia's invasion have raised concerns among Ukraine's allies, who fear he will force the country to accept partial defeat. He has also repeatedly proposed withdrawing from NATO, even going so far as to weaken the alliance's collective defense guarantee by saying he would encourage Russia to attack any member that failed to meet its commitments.

Trump's running mate, J.D. Vance, the leader of the isolationist faction of the Republican Party in Congress, who believes the United States should abandon its aid to Ukraine. Vance was one of the most vocal opponents of approving $61 billion in new military aid to Ukraine, which was blocked by Republican lawmakers for months earlier this year — a period during which Russia achieved several battlefield advantages. Trump told the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday that he would end the raging international crises, saying that he could "end the war with just one phone call."

“I will end every international crisis created by the current administration, including the terrible wars with Russia and Ukraine,” Trump said, without specifying how he would do so.

Zelensky said earlier this week that he and Trump "will work together" if Republicans win the White House. “It doesn’t worry me,” he said in a press conference.

Zelensky declined to say whether he was concerned about US President Joe Biden, who has faced calls to abandon his re-election campaign after a disastrous debate and questions about his health and intelligence. However, he admitted that the "chaos" that occurred during the US election cycle had a "huge impact" on his country.
