In a heart-wrenching development, authorities have released the identities of the five victims of a devastating plane crash that occurred near Nashville.

The crash involved a single-engine aircraft that tragically ended the lives of a family of five, including three children, as they attempted an emergency landing on Monday night.

The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified the victims as 43-year-old pilot Victor Dotsenko, his 39-year-old wife Rimma, and their three children: David, 12, Adam, 10, and Emma, 7.

The family, hailing from Canada, was en route to Nashville from Mount Sterling, Kentucky, when the pilot reported a complete loss of engine power.

The incident unfolded just off the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40, where the plane made a catastrophic descent, ultimately crashing and bursting into flames.

The family, who lived in King Township north of Toronto, has left a community in mourning. King Township Mayor Steve Pellegrini expressed the town's heartache over the "heartbreaking and devastating loss."

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is actively investigating the crash, focusing on the aircraft's maintenance records, the pilot's history, and the flight's details. The plane had originated from Ontario, Canada, and made stops in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Mount Sterling, Kentucky, before the tragic event.

As the investigation continues, the aviation community and the public alike await answers to the many questions surrounding this tragedy.

The loss of the Dotsenko family serves as a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the unpredictability of air travel. Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and relatives of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.
