Taylor Swift reveals final details of her new album The Tortured Poets Department
Taylor Swift has finally revealed the final details of her highly anticipated new album, The Tortured Poets Department, which will be released on April 19.
The pop star, who won her fourth Grammy for album of the year for Midnights last month, shared the official tracklist and cover art of her 11th studio album on her social media accounts on Monday.
The Tortured Poets Department will feature 16 songs and one bonus track, titled "The Manuscript". Some of the song titles include: "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)", "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys", "But Daddy I Love Him", and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart".
The cover art shows Swift holding a typewriter with lyrics written on a paper that read: "And so I enter into evidence / My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, / tick, / tick, / of love bombs, / my veins of pitch black ink." The image is signed by "The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department".
Swift also announced that the album will have two guest features: Post Malone on the opening track "Fortnight" and Florence and the Machine on the song "Florida!!!".
Swift said that she has been working on The Tortured Poets Department for two years, since right after she finished Midnights. She said that she worked on it throughout her US tour and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She described the album as "a collection of stories, confessions, and poems that I wrote in my darkest moments, inspired by some of the greatest writers and artists of all time".
She also said that the album is "a tribute to the power of words and the healing they can bring".
Swift is currently on her Eras Tour, which features songs from all 11 of her albums. She will wrap up her Singapore shows this week, before taking a two-month break and resuming her tour in Europe in June.
She is also dating NFL star Travis Kelce, who has been joining her on some of her tour stops and supporting her career. Swift has already written some love songs for him, such as "Anti-Hero" and "The Albatross", which are included on the new album.
The Tortured Poets Department is available for pre-order on Swift's website and on all streaming platforms. Fans who pre-order the album will also receive a digital booklet with exclusive photos and handwritten lyrics..
