Russia-Ukraine: 6 Russian Warplanes Destroyed by Drones, Kyiv Says
In a bold aerial offensive, Ukraine has claimed a significant strike against Russian airpower. According to Kyiv, a drone attack has led to the destruction of six Russian warplanes at the Morozovsk airbase in the Rostov region. This strike is part of Ukraine's intensified campaign to target military assets deep within Russian territory.
The Ukrainian authorities have stated that the destroyed aircraft include Su-34 fighter-bombers and Su-35 fighters, as well as an A-50 airborne early warning and control plane. These losses are a testament to the increasing use of drones in modern warfare and highlight the vulnerabilities of even the most fortified military installations.
The attack on the Morozovsk airbase, which is a critical facility for operations in Ukraine, also reportedly resulted in significant damage to eight additional aircraft. The human toll of this operation is also notable, with reports suggesting up to 20 service personnel killed or injured.
This incident marks one of the most substantial drone attacks by Ukraine since the conflict began, underscoring a strategic shift in its military tactics. As the war progresses, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has become a game-changer, offering the ability to conduct precise strikes with reduced risk to personnel.
